Karo Duro was invited to present at the inaugural Ethics and Aesthetics of Artificial Images Conference (EA-AI) hosted in the historical Venice, Italy.

Karo Duro's paper titled The AI Beauty Standard: The Plight of Generative Perfection examines the ethical concerns in the mass usage of AI-generated faces, bodies, and features. Her paper explores how the prevalence of AI personas could drastically alter societal perceptions of beauty and identity. During the conference Karo Duro presented a visual and interactive walkthrough of the emerging themes and insights from her research.

"I believe our collective is undergoing a mass onboarding where AI-generated personas are becoming the norm, allowing us to turn a blind eye to the ethical implications..."

EA-AI Venice 2025 was hosted on San Servolo Island, a very surreal location steeped with an eye-opening history, as well as cultural heritage across the sciences and arts. Here bright minds across art, academia, and tech gathered to exchange their ideas and findings with a global audience.

Other guest speakers included Lev Manovich and Matteo Pasquinelli. The programming was curated in parallel with the Venice Biennale an annual arts festival that occurs every year in Venice. The conference was made possible by the IUAV University of Venice and Venice International University.
The AI Beauty Standard: The Plight of Generative Perfection by Karo Duro is being published by Ethics & Aesthetics of AI Venice. and will be available shortly.
